Raster Music Tracker

A tracker for composing POKEY music on a modern computer. Modules can be exported for listening or included in Atari programs.

Instruments, tracks and songs

Music is built from instruments, notes and track sequences. Instruments and tracks are edited separately. Changing an instrument's envelope affects all notes using it. An RMT project preserves editing data; File → Export saves SAP or XEX for playback outside the editor or on Atari.

RMT development

Version 1.36 in the raster-atari-org repository continues Radek Štěrba's RMT 1.28 and Vin Samuel's 1.34. It also includes a Java port for Windows, Linux and macOS. Features and keyboard shortcuts differ between these releases.

One or two POKEYs

A standard Atari has one POKEY with four sound channels. Stereo music uses two chips, requiring a hardware expansion or a second POKEY enabled in the emulator.
