RastaConverter

Jakub Dębski's converter searches for a way to display a modern image on Atari. Along with graphics data, it produces a program controlling colour changes and PMG objects.

Image conversion

RastaConverter chooses not only colours but also the program controlling screen drawing. It combines per-line colour changes with Player/Missile graphics. Repeated attempts bring the result closer to the original within Atari hardware limits. Longer computation can improve the result.

Graphical and command-line versions

The GUI version opens conversion settings when run without arguments. Drag an image into the window; Convert starts computation and displays progress. Command-line builds and an older SDL interface also exist. The BUILD file covers Windows, macOS and Linux builds.

Saving and XEX export

Stop and save preserves the image and computation state for later continuation. The XEX button under Recent creates an Atari program displaying the result, using the bundled MADS assembler.
